finding the idea is difficult. Creativity doesn’t always feel like it’s at your fingertips. In my master class for writing course, R.L. Stine (author of Goosebumps) developed a metaphor called “The Idea Store” to simplify where to get ideas.

“There are three different departments in the idea store. There’s ‘experience,’ ‘memory’, and ‘imagination.’” -R.L. Stine

I was going to use these buckets to create my folders for Obsidian, but I went with a slightly different approach — I have “Ideas” for all of my creative thoughts and feelings, “Learnings” for things that I’m learning through content consumed, and “Memories” if I want to reminisce and look back on years past. I think these are pretty mutually exclusive although memories can spark ideas, you can have learnings from memories, and ideas might trigger memories, and so on. Overall, I think this is a decent approach for now. It can be changed if I so wish in the future.
